In its third season, FX’s animated comedy Archer hit new heights of lunacy and climbed in the ratings. The season began with a three-part episode—which aired in the fall after episodes of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia—then played out the rest of its season in the winter. Throughout the season, the show dug even deeper into its characters, offered up a number of great spy missions (including one in space), and forced lead character Sterling Archer into increasingly depraved situations, not that he seemed to mind much. Along the way, Cyril Figgis became a field agent, Archer hooked up with Pam, and Archer’s mother Malory murdered the prime minister of Italy.
