Viewers tracking the real-life events that provide the basis for HBO’s Treme have long assumed that David Simon’s series would wrap after five seasons, passing through the redemptive arc of the New Orleans Saints’ Super Bowl victory in 2009, then winding up right back in the thick of natural disaster with the BP oil spill.
