Culver City Dedicates Jefferson Boulevard Improvements Project [Video]

It’s taken just under six months for the City of Culver City to complete its Jefferson Blvd. Improvements project at Hetzler Road.
On Friday morning, the City held a dedication ceremony for the improvements that include:

• A traffic signal with a high visibility crosswalk at the intersection of Jefferson Boulevard and Hetzler Road
• Curb extensions at the intersection of Jefferson Boulevard and Hetzler Road
• Sidewalks filling the gap in existing sidewalks on Jefferson Boulevard near the entrance to the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook
• Raised landscaped median islands (approx. 250 feet total length) on Jefferson Boulevard near the entrance to the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook
• Bike lanes from near Duquesne Avenue to Holdrege Avenue
• Parking lot improvements (approximately 10 parking spaces) and bike racks

Among those who spoke at the event were Mayor Andy Weissman, 2^nd District Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas, Chairman of the Baldwin Hills Conservancy Allan Kingston and District Superintendent for California State Parks, Craig Sap (see video).
Funding for the project was provided by a grant from the Baldwin Hills Conservancy, with 25 percent of matching funds from the City of Culver City.
Mayor Weissman. Supervisor Ridley-Thomas and Superintendent Sap all said they hoped the new traffic signal and crosswalk would stop visitors parking opposite the entrance to the Overlook, from jaywalking.
